My voice, my words, my story. courageous and committed.
As I sat in my first journalism class, I couldn’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. I had always been fascinated by the world of journalism, and I was eager to learn the skills necessary to tell the stories that needed to be told.

Growing up, I was always the curious type, asking questions and seeking answers. As I got older, my interest in current events and storytelling only grew stronger. So, when it came time to choose a major, journalism seemed like the perfect fit.
INTERVIEWS

But, as I quickly learned, studying journalism wasn’t just about writing articles and conducting interviews. It was about developing a keen eye for detail, a strong sense of ethics, and the ability to tell complex stories in a clear and concise manner.
Throughout my time in the program, I was challenged to push myself outside of my comfort zone. I remember my first time conducting an interview – I was nervous and fumbled over my questions. But, with each subsequent interview, I grew more confident and skilled.
I also had the opportunity to work on several projects, including a investigative piece on the local government’s handling of a recent scandal. It was a challenging project, but it taught me the importance of persistence and attention to detail.
Internship Period

One of the most memorable experiences I had during my time in the program was when I landed an internship at a local news station. It was an incredible opportunity to see firsthand how a newsroom operated and to learn from experienced journalists.
As I approached graduation, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. I had come a long way since that first journalism class, and I was eager to take the skills and knowledge I had gained out into the world.
Today, as I look back on my journey studying journalism, I am reminded of the power of storytelling and the importance of a free press. I am grateful for the experiences and opportunities I had during my time in the program, and I am excited to see where my career in journalism takes me.
PLANS THAT I HAVE COMPLETED MY STUDIES.
Now that I’ve completed my studies, I’m excited to take the skills and knowledge I’ve gained out into the world. I’m currently applying for entry-level positions at news organizations, both online and in print. I’m also considering internships or fellowships to gain more experience and build my network.
In the long term, I hope to become an investigative journalist, focusing on in-depth reporting on social justice issues. I believe that journalism has the power to drive change and hold those in power accountable, and I’m eager to be a part of that process.
Ultimately, my goal is to tell the stories that need to be told and to give a voice to those who might not otherwise be heard.
