MOTHER’S LEGACY

Describe a positive thing a family member has done for you.

A Story of Love and Perseverance

Today sitting in an air-conditioned room and realizing that life is pretty simple what I forgot is that to make it this simple, some people at some point of time in their life had forgotten their comfort and had run long miles to give me this comfort and easy life.

But going down years back, there was an incident when i was in 5th standard, which is something i can never ever forget.

To begin with, my mother is an asthma patient. Taking medicines from years, today, she looks a way more healthy than she was then. Her condition required her to walk less, talk less, and do only a limited amount of activities. Else continuous cough used to be the outcome.

In all the years of my childhood, she suffered from this cough problem

Even in such conditions, one morning before leaving for tuition classes, i asked her to get me a geometry box, which was necessary in school that day. She was busy getting my lunch box ready and told me she would get it. I left for tuition, and she started walking towards the stationery shop.

The shop was a bit far away from our home, and she was not in the condition even to walk that much distance. It would have affected her health again.

But neither we were rich or even average class then so to save money she walked all the way to get me the box.

When i came out of tuition class, she was waiting downstairs, grasping her breath and trying to speak.

Ignorant then i was as i didn’t know what her condition was, and so i focused on the box, which was not I wanted, and i got angry with her.

Even in that condition when it was getting difficult to breathe for her, she asked me that she would exchange it and get the better one.

I left with what she brought without talking to her.

20 years have been passed. Today, i owe my life all my achievements to her. That incident when i recalled it later in my life, i felt guilty and pity for myself. I felt ashamed for my act. I never discussed it with people, but recalling that incident made me realize what all things they did for me to bring me here.

I owe this life to them, and i will never forget that incident

God bless you.
