Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

My followers might be surprised, but here’s my answer:
A wooden cross necklace.
Gifted to me on a mission trip when I was a teen by a stranger from another church. This is my one treasure. I actually like to keep close. Of course, to me, it’s not only a symbol of my faith in something greater than and beyond myself, but also of the great kindness even strangers can demonstrate toward one another. Even though it’s somewhat of a tradition to craft and give out crosses on such mission trips, it still meant the world to me that this stranger chose to give their cross to me.
I used to wear this cross every day, but I have since fallen out of practice. (This is primarily out of fear that one may look at me differently for wearing it.) Maybe it’s time to break it out again!
Hopefully, this reminds you of just how important a demonstration of kindness can be to the recipient(s).
Hold tight, memories last.
